All about toner

What is a toner?
A toner is a liquid lotion that can do the following things:

1. hydrate skin
2. calm and comfort skin
3. balance the PH level skin
4. some can even remove unwanted / dead skin == very few has this effect

Should I use toner?
I read many different answers. But, from personal experience, I would say YES. It's easier to absorb than other cream base lotion, and it really refreshes your skin, give you a clean feeling.

How do I use toner?
I tried using toner many different ways: use hands to apply, use cotton balls to apply or pour it into a spray bottle and spray on my face. The best way I found is using a spray.

You can easily get a empty spray bottle from any make-up shop even pharmacy. They sell travel sizes as well. When you spray, make sure you spray the whole face. Then leave it on until it dry naturally, (don't wipe it) You can tab your face gently massage your face a bit (轻拍脸 作点小按摩) while toner is being absorbed.

What are the recommended toner products:
In general, toners don't vary a lot, unlike facial treatment creams. However, you should always pick alcohol free and oil free products.

Here are a few products that I have used in the past years with good result or highly recommended by well-known dermatologists:

When your skin is really really dry:
Lotion douceur Gentle toner by Avene -- you can get in some drug stores, like DR or CVS.
Rare Earth Pore Refining Tonic by Kiehl's - this one I haven't tried, but it's got awesome review.

For normal skin to slightly oily:

For oily skin:
Tea Tree Oil Toner by Kiehl's - I haven't tried this one either, but tea tree is excellent for oily skin and can prevent break-out, which is generally a problem for oily skin type queen bees. And this toner also contain aloe, it's another excellent ingredient.

enjoy my ladies! feel free to post your experience and recommendation. I would love to learn about them.

Purple Hazy Look

I found this on Youtube today. Share with the queen bees here!

Purple Hazy Look

Introducing Dr. Sebagh

Who is Dr. Sebagh? He is an internationally well known dermatologist. He has been Cindy Crawford's dermatologist for over 15 years. I have used his eye cream; it is really quite amazing. It brightens your eyes, reduces fine lines and dark circle. It doesn't completely get rid of my dark circle, but it does lighten the color a lot. But mostly, it is amazing on tightening up your skin around your eyes to reduce fine lines. I think it's more suitable for girls over 25 who should start thinking about using light weight anti-aging product.

I haven't tried other products yet, since it is at the higher end of my price tolerance. If any of you queen bees out there have tried other products from Dr. Sebagh, please do share! Love to hear your experience with his products!

BEauty and the BEE?

Curious about how my blag got this name?

BEauty and the Bee. Well, let me explain. On my very first blog entry, I mentioned about we are not all born to be beautiful, but we can take good care of ourselves and become a beauty. To become a beauty requires a lot of work and be busy, like a BEE! haha.. let us be busy bee and be beauty..

ok.. ok.. it's corny and silly.. i know! Well, the point is.. don't be lazy! There are no ugly duckling , only lazy butts. Everyone can look pretty as long as you get off your lazy butt and take good care of yourself!

Mask cont.

So, we are still talking about masks...

Nourishing mask also can be found in cream form. Most of them are very easily absorbed, and they don't look scary..... LOL. So, if you girls out on a trip with your love ones and didn't want scary white or green faces to scare your boys away, the cream masks are usually good secret weapons to make sure your skin stay glowing the whole trip no matter you are on the alps skiing or in Caribbean sun bathing..

some recommended good cream base masks:

Natures Recipe Mask - Firming Honey
by THEFACESHOP

It can tighten your skin!

I have also shared a DIY mask recipe with some girlfriends before too. But, here it is again, in case any of you missed it last time:

Home Made Honey Egg Lemon Mask

1 egg (whole egg, you can also just use egg white or egg yolk. egg yolk has more nutrition, but egg white helps rebuild skin, and reduce blemish. So, you can decide what you want to use)
honey - 1 tsp
lemon juice (fresh squeezed) - 1.5 TSP
flour or milk powder - 2 - 3 Tsp depends on the size of the egg (bigger egg, more flour or milk powder)

mix all together and spread the mixture on your face evenly. Let it sit for 15-20 mins until it gets a little dried. ( You don't need to wait until its completely dried) Use a small wash cloth to wash the mask off. (When it starts drying up, its hard to get it off the face. So, a wash cloth can help you wash off the mask.) The mixture will probably be enough for 2 facial. But, don't keep the remaining mixture for over 2 days. (i.e. use it up the 2nd day if there is any left, so it is still fresh)

note - before you do the facial, make sure you wash your face, but don't wipe your face. Let it air dry.

Happy Facial girls~~
